Hello again! It certainly has been a long time since I was here, huh? I somehow doubt anyone other than myself sees this, but in the odd case that someone else does, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy! ❤

As everyone knows, the world is currently on lockdown and under strict orders to social and physical distance themselves from others. That is true here in Canada as well. I have taken a temporary layoff from my job until given the “OK” that is it safe to come back to work. As much as I am loving this time off, I could definitely benefit from returning to work. I know my bank account could benefit from it too.

The past six or eight months have certainly seen a fair amount of action in my doll collection. What went from two beautiful SD boys is now four beautiful SD boys, two adorable YoSD kidlets, nine MSDs and two tinies. Not only that, but I have another 2 SD boys on the way from Doll Family-H, another SD boy and an MSD boy coming as well as a layaway plan for a Doll Family-H body hybrid with a Doll Family-A head. And it’s not going to stop there.

I’m finally giving a body to Mirage and his protective half-werewolf, half-werewolf hunter lover, Noble. It just kind of sucks the pairing I was planning won’t work because the MSD body is much too small beside the SD body that Noble is going to have. Hence why I have a DF-H and DF-A hybrid coming (eventually, I have no idea what the ETA on them will be) but either way! I’m really excited for it! My beautiful Incubus is going to be an actuality for me! ❤

Another pairing I’m putting into actuality is my beloved Spiryte and Dimitri ❤ They’re the DF-H boys that I have coming. When I spoke to the company, they said that it would be about 5 months before I see hide or hair of them though. Bah. But that means it should be an early Christmas present to myself! I can only hope that the DF-H body I’ve ordered will come in around the same time!

Until then, I’ll work with a different seller to get more beautiful dolls! I will introduce them all eventually, I’m sure I will, but as I only get to this website every so often.

Either way, do stay safe, continue to social distance and remember, we can and will get through this!

Cheers, everyone!!

Post Christmas Update

So, Christmas has come and gone and all but one crocheted gift has been delivered. Since I hope to deliver said gift tonight (or possibly tomorrow) I thought I would post some of the pieces I’ve finished for said gifts.

As shown in the photo above, the first item I’m showing off is this lovely wall hanging. It was funny because my family noticed pieces of it hanging or sitting around the house as I blocked it and glued the “feather” parts, but they hadn’t seen the full, finished piece until Shaina unwrapped it on Christmas morning. It was so wonderful to see the look of shocked awe on her face when she looked at it. Needless to say, I think she liked it. I had a lot of fun making it too.

I mixed two patterns to get it. The squares came from one pattern and the feathers are actually from another. The rest just kind of came together. I had that stick for months before I was finally able to use it. It had to go through staining and sealing in order to make sure it was decoration worthy.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

My grandmother had been visiting one day during the summer and took notice of the coaster I had made spread around the house. She liked them so much she requested a set for herself. So I delivered!

I loved this pattern so much that I actually had to be told to stop otherwise my grandmother would have been overwhelmed with coasters! I had so many other colours to make. Oh well. I stopped at 12.

One of the things I’m upset with is that I had written “Zeit fur Kaffee” (Time for Coffee, or Coffee Time) on the plastic canvas holder and completely blanked on taking a photo of the finished product. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll be visiting my grandmother again eventually, maybe I can snag a photo then. Either way, she liked the coasters and we even put them to use when we visited.

These are my first tries at making Amigurumi and I must say, although they didn’t turn out anything like the pattern shows (probably due to different tensions and different buttons for the eyes) but overall, I am very proud of them!

The one of the far left is Leafeon. It was made for my BFF, Emily. Next in line is the normal Umbreon who was made for my baby sister, Julie. Next is a tiny and positively adorable Espeon (I used different yarn with her and thus she ended up considerably smaller than the others) for my mother and finally, the blue Umbreon is the shiny version of the Pokemon and it went to my brother, Dane.

I would like to think they were happy with them, but I’m not 100% certain on that. They did seem like they liked them, so that’s a good thing anyway. And I’m really happy with how they turned out.

Dad requested a poncho of his own for Christmas and while I personally think it’s far too big and too heavy, he seemed to really like it. It’s more of a blanket than it is a poncho though haha!

I may have to come back at a later date and make him another one; one that better fits him because this one was huge and I had to improvise with the back and front panels because the one was taking far too long to finish and I knew that if I didn’t switch it up, it never would have been done in time.

My baby sister, Julie, has been really obsessed with the new TV show Riverdale (and really, who can blame her… it’s really good!)

Well, like any teenager girl, she has developed a huge crush on Jughead (Cole Sprouse’s character) and I must admit, he is probably the highlight of the show!

She has a grey hat, but it was lacking the typical “Jughead” touches. I knew right away what I had to do! So away to my crochet hooks and grey yarn, I went. The toughest part was trying to find something to mimic the white tag the original hat has beside the red button. Thankfully, I found a macramé bead that fit the job just perfectly!

I was so excited for her to open this one because I knew how much she loved the character and she tries to dress like him whenever she can. Now she can be a little bit more like him because she has the grey crown hat that Jughead in the show wears.

She loved it, by the way.

Well, it’s official. I have jumped onto the cute Jellyfish Amigurumi bandwagon and I must say, I’m impressed.

This thing was so fun and so easy to make, I’m going to be making her a purple one to go with this blue fellow!

She thought it was super cute as well and I’m glad because if she didn’t like it, then I totally would have taken it back and hung it up in my room! Haha!

The above photos are the two cutie snowglobes I made for Shaina and my mother. Shaina received the one with the kitty and paw print on it and because my mother loves deer, lambs and squirrels, she received the one on the right with the woodland critters.

They’re just a little something to hang on the tree, or in a window, or in the car, or wherever they feel like hanging them.

As soon as I find the appropriate buttons for the rest of my family, I will be making everyone one of these cute little snowglobe ornaments!

Over the last two years, I have made a scarf for my best friend, Emily, in the Gryffindor colours. Gryffindor is her house at Hogwarts and since she is now a big Harry Potter fan, I knew I had to make her a scarf.

Well, the next year, I made her a hat to match her scarf! All that she was missing was a pair of mittens to complete the whole set!

I finished these beauties up last night (December 30, 2018) and although the pattern gave me some grief in more than one place, I managed to get them right and I quite like how they fit on my hands. Hopefully, hers and my hands are similar and these will fit her well too! I haven’t given them to here because she was away at her mother’s house for the Christmas break and we haven’t exchanged gifts with her yet. I hope she likes them ❤

I was a fairly busy bee with crocheting during the las few months! Now to take a break and maybe finished one of the two novels I have started! That would be nice!

While Shaina was visiting, she set me up with an Etsy account in an attempt to help me sell some of the things I make. Of course, most of the things I make are for friends and family, so none of that is for sale, but it would be wonderful if I could sell some of the things I make. You know, let someone else enjoy them instead of just me and my immediate surroundings.

We’ll see how that works out!

Anyway! That’ll be that for tonight! I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Happy New Year! I wish all of you the brightest blessings in the new year!

Mirage Sedora

Scouring through the Internet, I found this photo and thought it looked the most like what I see Mirage looking like. His eyes are different, both blue but the left one has some heterochromia happening to it, turning a portion of it blue where it was injured during one of his beatings. Yes, he looks more or less Asian, but that’s okay. Asians are beautiful.

I am a fairly avid writer. At any given moment, I usually have a bunch of ideas floating around in my brain. Most of the time, they are just little blurbs and blips about a set of characters. And most of the time, guaranteed those characters are probably the same ones as always.

This area will hopefully contain some of the things I’ve written. Either excerpts from my actual stories, or parts of what I have bouncing around inside my head.

They could range from simple things like character information, or it could be things that are a little bit more detailed like the story ideas I get from dreams. Either way, there will be something posted under the writing aspect of this space, even if it’s not until later.

Like, as it stands right now, I have a little blurb of my character Mirage (a stunningly beautiful young Incubus with a tragic and abusive past) meeting up with another of my characters in the mall and recognizing him by his giggle because they work in the same club.

It’s little things like that, that I might write down. Little things that flesh out my characters a little more than they usually are. After all, if I don’t care about them, then neither will my readers and I can’t have that. Especially not for someone as sweet as Mirage.

Speaking of Mirage (or Mira, as he’s known by friends and his loved ones) I’ll talk a bit about him for this post.

His story is a fairly tragic one. His mother has another son, so he has a half-brother named Donavon. Donavon is his mother’s legitimate child with her husband. Mirage is the bastard child from her tryst with an Incubus that visited her several times during the night over the period of three months. Donavon’s father had attempted to stay and help raise the son of what he considered a “monster” but eventually found that he couldn’t handle it and walked out on Donavon, Mirage and their mother. He couldn’t handle the fact that she was so loving to the child from an adulterous affair, even though there was little she could do to fight off an Incubus demon.

Shortly after her husband left, Mirage’s mother fell under the influence of heavy drugs and soon became heavily in debt to the men that were supplying her the drugs. She lost the house and moved into the little apartment building run by the dealers where she would use her body to pay for the drugs they supplied her. During that time, Donavon and Mirage both attempted to continue schooling, watching their mother sink further and further into debt and addiction.

Eventually, it got to the point where their mother could no longer satisfy the needs of the people that used her and in order to appease her addiction, she sold Mirage, who was already turning into a beautiful teenager, to the dealer to do with as he pleased, as long as she got enough of a fix from it. And so began Mirage’s nightmare.

It was found out what his father was and he started being used like his mother was. Donavon, although upset with the fact that Mirage had torn his family apart, tried to protect him as much as he could, but even he couldn’t hide him from the people after Mirage. Mirage never did understand how to use his abilities as an Incubus as his Incubus father never returned to take him away from his human mother.

Several years pass of this treatment and their mother ends up pregnant again. She gives birth to another baby boy, one she names Aarii, before she passes away. Mirage, knowing that the people in the apartment complex will harm the baby the first chance they get, manages to sneak out and take the baby somewhere where he will be safe.

He is caught sneaking back and beaten horribly for several days. By this point, he has pretty much given up being free ever again and has essentially succumbed to the fact that he will be their prisoner for the rest of his life.

During a turn of events after some time to recover, he manages to escape and, barefoot and still badly beaten, he runs into a man in the street who agrees to help him.

This man is Noble Seycara. He is the firstborn son of an Alpha male from a Werewolf pack with ties back to Ancient Babylon, and a Werewolf Huntress. A word about the Werewolf Hunters. They share attributes with their prey, although lack the ability to change their form. They have increased strength, stamina and durability; they have keen hearing, sight and smell; they have fangs and some have longer nails, mimicking the claws their prey usually sport. Noble shares those traits from his mother, but also shares some of the traits that he received from his father. The full moon causes him to be more aggressive; he prefers his meats cooked rare; and is fiercely protective of those he cares for. Needless to say, in the long run, it’s a good thing Mirage runs into him.

Right away, Noble can tell that Mirage is in trouble and agrees to help him. He takes him to a hospital where he gets treatment for the multiple wounds on his body and Noble stays with him during the night. Because of his heightened sense of smell, he can smell the different men that had abused Mirage and vows then and there to end them.

With Mirage in the hospital, safe and guarded, Noble visits a good friend of his family, another Alpha whom Noble’s family had helped out of captivity years back. They became friends through the years. Noble requests this Alpha’s assistance in taking out this drug house and making sure the residents never harm another person again.

Given their alliance, the Alpha agrees to help and with the aid of Noble’s Werewolf siblings, they attack the apartment building as a pack of wolves and wipe out the abusers.

Donavon is found in the basement and is taken to the same hospital that Mirage was taken to. A police investigation is conducted, but eventually, the entire case is closed because there is literally no one left to charge; the wolves made sure there was little left of them.

Mirage requires a longer stay in the hospital than his brother and Noble offers his home to Donavon and Mirage in order for them to recover and settle back into society because they had been absent from it for several long years.

At first, understandably, Donavon is extremely uneasy about trusting this new man, although Noble has given him no reason to believe that he means him or Mirage harm and Mirage is already quite taken with Noble, given that he had saved his life; a sort of knight in shining armour syndrome, if such a thing exists.

As it stands though, currently, in the little story I have going for this set of characters (and I use the term little VERY lightly, haha! It’s over 100 pages already) Donavon has lived with Noble, Noble’s sister, Rosalyn, and two Vampire Hunter siblings, Chaselyn and Kavan, for a little under a month. He’s settled in fairly well and has agreed to stay with the four in their rather large, manor-style home, for the time being. Although, he’s hesitant about it because he’s protective over his younger brother given how much abuse he had endured before, and he’s seen the way Mirage has looked at Noble before.

Either way, Mirage comes to live with Donavon and Noble and the gang, and he’s still reluctant to be around people. He ends up spending most of the time in his room until he’s comfortable around the people there to be out and about with them. Chaselyn buys Mirage some novels that he can read because Donavon mentioned that Mirage loved to read before all books were taken away from them.

Currently, that’s where I’ve stopped it at the moment. Mirage is thrilled with having books to read, so he stays in his room to read them. It keeps him away from people he’s afraid of meeting and keeps him entertained so he doesn’t feel like he’s being trapped in his room. And everyone in the house has told him one way or another that he’s more than welcome to wander around the house if he wants to, but it’s entirely up to him to do so.

So far, that’s where I’ve left it off. I have a bunch of other things that are going to happen, especially between Mirage and Noble, Donavon and Rosalyn.

But that’s where I’ll end it right now. Regardless, Mirage has been on my mind quite a lot lately. Which is different because he’s usually pretty shy and quiet and sticks to himself. It’s nice to hear from him again.

Daaaaaaaaay One

Koodos to you if you get the reference!

So, this is my first ever post on this, my very own blog! I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing, but hey! I’ll work it out as I go along! Right now, I am definitely feeling like I’m alone in an audience hall, talking to myself, which, if you think about it, I kind of am. I’m the only one here. I’m the only one following this blog. No one else knows of its existence. So yeah, I’m that awkward one standing at a podium in a completely empty audience hall, talking to myself! Lots of fun, right?

This blog will be dedicated to the three things I enjoy the most in my life:

  • Crochet
  • Photography
  • Dolls

I started out crocheting three years back, in 2015. The story behind that is this:

I had saved up a bunch of money while working with my father during the summer at his work. I had earned enough to purchase my very first Asian Ball-Jointed Doll (not a cheap venture, let me tell you!). I purchased my beloved doll Atticus “Sphinx” Shade.  He is a beautiful sculpt from Dream of Doll by the name of Ducan Homme. I was first brought to attention of this brand of doll by an Instagram account that I follow by the name of Nixdepano.

She owns a doll from Dream of Dolls that she has named Rose. It’s because of her and her beautiful doll, Rose, that I was drawn to this company so strongly.

Browsing through their catalog I came across Ducan Homme and immediately fell in love with him. I went through the process of ordering him, hurt because of the exchange rate in currency (like I said, not a cheap venture!) and then it was just a waiting game until he arrived at my house.

During that time, I wanted to make him a blanket for when he arrived, kind of like a welcome home present, you know?

And so began my nose dive into crocheting!

Let me tell you, it wasn’t at all as easy as people make it look in their videos. There were a lot of F-bombs being dropped and I can’t tell you how many times I asked “How the f**k did you get that?” or “What the f**k?” or “Where the f**k did you put it?”. Needless to say, it was frustrating and entirely entertaining at the same time.

My first try at crocheting didn’t turn out very well, given that I had tasked myself with learning how to crochet a granny square. Talk about jumping in with both feet. I could have learned the way others learn with the chain and the single crochet and the double crochet, but no, I jumped right into doing a whole damn granny square!

First ever granny square. The top right side is slanted and I definitely missed stitches along the top row.
My first ever granny square. As you can see, it is definitely not the best one!

Thankfully, after watching a few more videos, especially those from Bella Coco on YouTube, I was able to get a better grasp on it. I went from doing the typical granny square to doing the solid granny square and before I knew it, I was working my way through multiple squares that I would put together for the blanket I wanted to make for Sphinx.

Solid granny square blanket in blue, pink and green with black outlining each square. Blanket made for Sphinx.
My efforts working with the granny squares paid off and I was awarded with this lovely looking blanket.

And so began my love of crochet. It started with granny squares and a small blanket for a doll and now I’m here:

I’d like to think I’ve come a pretty long way in such a short amount of time. I’m even trying my hand at Amigurumi now! But because they are meant to be Christmas gifts, I’m not going to post photos of them until later. Don’t need any spoilers!

But it’s really all thanks to my love of the Ball-Jointed dolls that I got into crochet. Thanks to Sphinx, I taught myself how to crochet and now I have more yarn than I have projects to do with it and so many patterns saved both on Ravelry and in my documents on my computer!

Crochet really is one of the best hobbies, I think. You get to make things for people and then you get to give those items to the people and watch them light up and smile over receiving a handmade, one-of-a-kind gift.

Like, take for instance: I made a set of coasters for my cousin, Shannon. (Pictured) Well, we were visiting with here one warm day in August and I pull them out and give them to her. Well, didn’t she light up like I had just offered her one of the best gifts in the world! It felt so good to see something as simple as coasters making her so happy! Now, I’m not sure if she uses them or not, but it was wonderful to see the joy on her face when I gave them to her. And they are quite pretty if I do say so myself!

But that’s what I like most about making handmade gifts. They bring that kind of happiness to someone and it makes the giver of the gift feel happy too. That, and they are literally one-of-a-kind gifts. There could be a tiny blemish in a handmade gift that the receiver will never see, but the maker will know it’s there. For the OCD of us, it might be an issue, but to the person receiving the gift, they’ll never know about it unless it’s pointed out to them. I’ve tested that theory many times with my family and even though I know where the blemish is, they never see it.

So, it’s thanks to my beloved Sphinx for getting me into crocheting and I’m really glad I let myself go that route. I love crocheting!

I’m going to wrap this post up now because it’s already getting pretty long! And this is just supposed to be the introduction post! Haha! Whoops!

Thanks for reading this far!

See you in the next post!

Love, CS
